Yoshinobu Yamamoto Tosses Masterpiece Complete Game Against Yankees

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Tosses Masterpiece Complete Game Against Yankees The Los Angeles Dodgers sent a massive message to the rest of the league on Sunday, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto was the messenger. The Japanese ace tossed his first regular-season complete game, a dominant four-hitter, to lead the Dodgers to an 8-2 victory over the Yankees in the Bronx. In a highly anticipated marquee matchup between the two powerhouse franchises, Yamamoto proved once again that he thrives under the brightest lights, outdueling Yankees starter Cam Schlittler in Game 1 of a day-night doubleheader. Efficiency and Dominance Yamamoto was practically untouchable from the first pitch. He retired the first nine batters he faced on just 28 pitches and finished the afternoon with seven strikeouts, zero walks, and only two runs allowed on 102 pitches (69 for strikes). He became just the 11th pitcher in the majors to throw a complete game this season. The Dodgers' offense made sure his effort didn't go to waste. Shohei Ohtani paced the attack with an RBI double and an RBI single, while the lineup exploded for five runs in the eighth inning to break the game wide open. With the win, the Dodgers improved their MLB-best record to 63-36, showcasing the depth and star power that makes them heavy favorites to repeat as World Series champions. The SBA Takeaway Yamamoto's performance is a stark reminder to the futures market: when the Dodgers' rotation is healthy and firing, they are in a tier of their own. Yamamoto already proved his big-game mettle with two complete games in the 2025 postseason, and his ability to save the bullpen in a doubleheader spot is invaluable. Meanwhile, the Yankees' struggles continue; they have now lost nine of their last ten home games and look entirely lost without Aaron Judge in the lineup. Bettors should continue to fade New York as heavy favorites until their captain returns from his fractured rib. --- Related reading: - MLB Second-Half Betting Storylines: Who Will Make a Run? - 2026 MLB All-Star Game: AL Pitching Stifles NL in Historic 4-0 Shutout - Red Sox Extend Win Streak to 12 as Wilyer Abreu Homers Twice Again
