The Lynx Are 28-7 and Only a 1.5-Point Favorite in Las Vegas
By SBA | Published August 15, 2026
The Minnesota Lynx are 28-7. That is the best record in the WNBA by three and a half games. They visit the Las Vegas Aces on Saturday night in a nationally televised window, and the market has them as a 1.5-point favorite.
A team on an .800 winning percentage getting priced as a coin flip is unusual. It also makes sense once you look at where each team actually wins.
The road split is doing the heavy lifting
Minnesota is 14-2 away from home. That is a better away record than Las Vegas has at home, where the Aces sit at 11-5. The Lynx are also 18-2 inside their own conference and carry a plus-8.9 point differential, best in the league. They score 92.6 per game and allow 83.7.
The Aces are not a soft landing spot. They're 24-11 with a plus-3.8 differential, riding a two-game win streak, and they already beat Minnesota 100-97 in Las Vegas earlier this season. The Lynx returned the favor 98-87 at home on Aug. 8, with Olivia Miles scoring 26 and Napheesa Collier adding 22.
| Team | Record | Home | Away | PPG | Opp PPG | Diff | L10 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minnesota Lynx | 28-7 | 14-5 | 14-2 | 92.6 | 83.7 | +8.9 | 9-1 |
| Las Vegas Aces | 24-11 | 11-5 | 13-6 | 90.7 | 86.9 | +3.8 | 6-4 |
So the number is not disrespecting Minnesota. It is pricing home court, a rested Vegas roster, and a season series that is split.
Two reasons to slow down on the Lynx
First, they nearly gave away a 29-point lead on Wednesday and needed to hold off Portland 85-81. Collier had 20 and nine, Kayla McBride had 19, and the final margin flattered nobody. Teams that close 28-7 seasons rarely coast at this stage of August, but late-season fatigue is real and Minnesota is deep into a stretch of games that matter for seeding they have mostly already secured.
Second, the total is 182.5, which is a high number for a Lynx game. Minnesota's identity is defense first. They allow 83.7 per game, the profile of a team that wants games in the 170s. Vegas plays at a higher temperature and averages 90.7. When a defensive team is asked to survive a fast opponent in their building, the variance in both the total and the spread goes up.
Worth remembering too that Golden State is 24-9 and has won five in a row. The West is not a two-team story anymore, and neither Minnesota nor Las Vegas has anything to gain from an August war.
SBA takeaway
The line is honest. Minnesota is clearly the better team, and 1.5 points is close to what a neutral-site pick-em would look like once you account for the Aces' home floor and a split season series. The number that interests us more is 182.5, since it sits well above what Minnesota's defensive profile usually produces. This is a good game to watch pace in the first quarter before doing anything, not a game where the record alone should push you into a side.
